Terms of Service – MovieScout

Welcome to MovieScout. By accessing or using our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of the Service

MovieScout is a personal cataloging and discovery tool licensed under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0 designed to help you search for movies and TV shows, track your watchlists, record ratings, and check streaming availability across providers.

Important Notice Regarding Content:
MovieScout is strictly an information tracker and discovery tool. MovieScout DOES NOT host, stream, distribute, or provide playback of any copyrighted films, series, or video content. All media information, synopses, and imagery are retrieved from third-party public metadata APIs.

2. User Accounts and Authentication

To synchronize your lists and preferences across multiple devices, MovieScout offers user authentication via supported identity providers (such as Google Sign-In, and where available, Email or Facebook Login). By creating an account:

You agree to provide accurate authentication credentials through the authorized OAuth identity providers.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your device and login credentials.
You agree to notify us immediately if you discover any unauthorized use of your account.

3. Third-Party Services and APIs

MovieScout integrates with external services to provide its functionality:

The Movie Database (TMDB): Metadata, images, and catalog information are provided by TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
OMDb: External rating metrics.
JustWatch: Streaming availability data.
Supabase: Cloud database, authentication, and hosting infrastructure.
Identity Providers: Google, and optionally Meta/Facebook.

Your interactions with these third-party services may also be governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies.

4. Intellectual Property and PolyForm License

The source code of MovieScout is made available under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. You may inspect, contribute to, or fork the repository at GitHub in compliance with the license conditions.

All trademarks, movie/series titles, posters, stills, logos, and descriptions remain the intellectual property of their respective owners and rights holders.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use MovieScout to:

Violate any applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations.
Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the infrastructure of MovieScout or our third-party backend providers (such as Supabase or TMDB APIs).
Attempt unauthorized access to backend databases, server functions, or other users' private accounts.
Abuse or circumvent rate limits applied to third-party APIs.

6. Technical Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developers and maintainers of MovieScout shall not be held liable for:

Any service interruptions, downtime, or data loss caused by third-party hosting, infrastructure, or network providers (including Supabase, Google Cloud, or third-party APIs).
Inaccuracies, delays, or omissions in metadata or streaming availability provided by TMDB, JustWatch, OMDb, or other third-party data sources.
Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the Service.

7. Account Termination and Deletion

You may stop using the Service at any time. You have the right to delete your account and all associated cloud data directly from within the app settings or by submitting an account deletion request as outlined in our Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in abusive behavior that threatens the security or stability of the Service.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When changes occur, the updated version will be published at this URL with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Service after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Spain and the applicable regulations of the European Union, without regard to conflict of law principles.
